1-What is your ‘go to’ bible verse to get you through the day?
I love and live by both of these verses:
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.“ Philippians 4:13
“As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.“ Joshua 24:15
I am blessed that both sides of my family are Episcopalians. Although I’ve been a Grace member for just a few years, I’ve been an Episcopalian since I was three. It all started in Lynn Massachusetts, then I was baptized in Rhode Island, and married at St. Marks in Fall River, Massachusetts.
2-Briefly tell us about a recent fun activity you and or your friends/family participated in.
I recently FaceTimed our grandson in London, which was great fun. My husband Bob and I are both voracious readers and have read over one hundred books since February. We also have fun doing puzzles. The one I’m currently working on has images of cool cupcakes. The last trip we took was to Australia and New Zealand. During past travels we have had the opportunity to make new friendships with four other couples and enjoyed a reunion with them six years later.
3-Do you have a favorite recipe or take-out meal recommendation you would like to share?
We eat a gluten free, low sugar and carb diet. I make a delicious lasagna out of hearts of palm pasta, called Palmini, which can be found in a can at Publix. I par boil them for 6-8 minutes and then use them in a standard lasagna recipe. One can will make an eight inch square pan of lasagna. I also make shepherd’s pie with mashed cauliflower!
4- At the start of the 2021 school year, Grace Church will be offering a new Children’s Ministry program, led by Grace’s very own member, Erin van Santen (Father Frans’s wife). While Erin is busy preparing, please share how a mentor, youth leader, or Sunday school teacher had an impact on you and why? My parents were my mentors, they were Sunday school teachers. As a child, my priest was Father Richard Acker and he made a huge impact on my faith. Since joining bible study with Father Jonathan, I have learned so much. Today’s discussion was about heaven. Please consider joining his weekly Thursday Bible study class held at noon, available on zoom. It is well worth it, and I encourage you to try it and learn more.
