1-What is your ‘go to’ bible verse to get you through the day?

I seek peace and love in every day and love this verse in the Second Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians:

“Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.”

I also go to Proverbs for help and guidance.

2-Briefly tell us about a recent fun activity you and or your family participated in.

Two girlfriends and I rode in a golf cart at the new World Equestrian Center (WEC). We toured much of WEC’s 378 acres of beautiful grounds, stadiums, stables, shops and the lobby of the new hotel. We watched an equestrian class from their plush stadium, and enjoyed dining on the patio of one of their delicious restaurants. If you have not been there, you will be amazed. It’s fun for all ages and free to visit.

3-Do you have a favorite recipe or take-out meal recommendation you would like to share?

My mom and grandmother’s coffee cake:

1 cup self-rising flour > mix together; save half for topping

1 cup sugar

½ cup butter

½ cup milk >mix; add ½ crumb mix to this

1 egg grease pie plate and top with other half crumb mix,

½ cup self-rising flour dust with cinnamon, bake 375’ 20-30 minutes

4- At the start of the 2021 school year, Grace Church will be offering a new Children’s Ministry program, led by Grace’s very own member, Erin van Santen (Father Frans’s wife). While Erin is busy preparing, please share how a mentor, youth leader, or Sunday school teacher had an impact on you and why?

The person who has had the most impact on our family growing up at Grace was their Sunday school teacher Julie Kesselring. She immediately captured my kids with her sweet sensitive spiritual nature along with her husband Andy who provided Dunkin Donuts! We became friends and when my daughter graduated high school, she gave her the Dr. Suess’s book “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and put sticky notes with a dollar and Bible verses that related to the passages throughout the book. The power of the Holy Spirit touched our hearts with this gift and continues today. Many years later, I designed the visitation center for parents and kids at Kids Central in a Dr. Suess theme and members of Grace helped me with a projector to draw and paint images on the walls and a DVD/VHS player to play movies.
