1. What is your ‘go to’ bible verse to get you through the busy holidays? Why is it special to you? “Pray without ceasing.” (I Thessalonians 5:17) The holidays are joyful, but also stressful for many of us. My usual almost-continuous prayer for those on my prayer list might get cut drastically when the distractions of the holidays are present. So I try to remind myself that what’s really important is not whether I hang more lights or add another tree, but that I continue praying and strengthening my relationship with God.
2. We’ve endured long hot days, hurricane season and hopefully a vacation (or two)! Share with us what you’ve been up to these last few months, from vacation, your reading list, to what’s cooking in the kitchen or recently created/crafted. Becoming a birth mother was a struggle for me, so having three grandchildren now is a real blessing. This summer, their parents were transferred to Miami so I’ve spent much of my summer helping my daughter with the kids. Do Rice Krispies Treats count as cooking?
3. Now in its 76th year, who or what is it that moved you to help with the Grace Church Bazaar, and keeps you engaged, year after year? The camaraderie! Working with the other volunteers is one of my favorite activities – getting to know new members and getting to know the more experienced members better.
4. Each of us have gifts and talents. Please share one or more of your gifts and or talents and how you could use them to help others at Grace and/or in our community. I’m relatively organized – that’s why I volunteered to chair ECW’s annual yard sale. I’m also really good at holding babies . . .
