Grace Vision Update

By Senior Warden, Heather Hetzel

Grace’s vision team is diligently working behind the scenes to determine what God’s plan is for our church. The vision team is comprised of a sprinkling of dedicated parishioners from different backgrounds, ages, and stages of life. As a group, we are asking questions like “What is Grace good at? What should Grace be good at?” and “Are our resources set up to help us reach our goals?”

Before the vision team started to meet, I was nervous. Here is a short list of the concerns I had:

- In a practical sense, how do we listen to God?

- How do we make sure we are hearing God and not ourselves?

- What if we never hear Him?

- What if the vision for Grace is such a drastic change that it makes us all feel very uncomfortable?

Now, with several meetings under our belts, my concerns are gone, and I am feeling optimistic about the future of our church. Here is why:

  1. Our team of parishioners is so dedicated to the process. The group of people on the vision team deeply cares about our church and each other. Please know that the vision team is taking the role of discerning what God is telling us very seriously.

  2. God shows up even in Zoom meetings! We have been meeting via Zoom and God is right alongside us. God is leading us down a path that I believe will allow Grace church to reach more people in Ocala and thereby build up the Kingdom of God.

We do not have a clear vision…yet. But I can feel that we are getting closer to knowing what God has planned for us. Please pray for the members of the Vision team. Pray that we put our own thoughts aside and listen to what God is trying to tell us. We do not want to get this wrong.
